One of the series currently in development for Disney+ is “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”, which tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.

Walker Scobell will be playing the title role of Percy Jackson, with Aryan Simhadri (Disney’s “Spin”) and Leah Sava Jeffries (“Empire”) playing Percy’s friends Grover and Annabeth. The series will also star Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Dior Goodjohn, Olivea Morton, Charlie Bushnell, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, and Timm Sharp.

This new series won’t be the first time Percy Jackson has appeared on our screens, as 20th Century Fox released two films over ten years ago, which are both available on Disney+ and starred Logan Lerman in the title role.

This week, Sony Pictures is releasing a brand new film, “Bullet Train”, in which Logan Lerman stars, and during a special red carpet premiere event, the actor was asked about the upcoming new Disney+ series.

“I’m really excited and curious to see it. I think everything I’ve seen so far, just about casting and how they’re doing it, and that Rick is running it just makes me happy. It makes me happy for the fans, and excited for this new generation to watch it.”

Filming on the news Disney+ series is currently underway in Vancouver, Canada, and recently, Percy Jackson creator, Rick Riordian revealed the show is likely to arrive on Disney+ in 2024.
