The live-action Canadian children’s series, “The Hardy Boys”, will end after its third season.  Filming is currently underway on the final season in Toronto, and southern Ontario, Canada.  The final season will consist of eight, one-hour episodes.

The series tells the story of what happens after a family tragedy strikes, Frank Hardy (Rohan Campbell), 16, and his brother Joe (Alexander Elliot), 12, are forced to move from the big city to their parent’s hometown of Bridgeport for the summer. Staying with their Aunt Trudy (Bea Santos), Frank and Joe’s quiet summer quickly comes to a halt when they discover their dad, detective Fenton Hardy (James Tupper) has taken on a secret investigation. Realizing that their Dad may be onto something the boys take it upon themselves to start an investigation of their own, and suddenly everyone in town is a suspect.

Variety is also reporting that Bailee Madison has joined the cast in a guest-starring role.  Bailee has previously starred in “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” and will play the role of Drew Darrow, a “fun but often frustrating new ally with a brilliant mind and appetite for magic and mysteries.”

The first two seasons have been released as a Hulu Original in the United States, and the final season is expected to premiere next year on Hulu in the U.S.  It’s also expected to air on YTV and STACKTV in Canada, with more international networks to be announced.

In a statement, Pam Westman, president of Nelvana said:

“From its inception, it’s been a joy to work with Lambur Productions, Hulu and YTV on ‘The Hardy Boys’ and introduce these iconic characters and gripping adventures to a new generation.

As this mystery comes to a close, we’re looking forward to providing fans with more mystery-solving action, surprising turn-of-events, and laughs in a wild final season”

Joan Lambur, executive producer for Lambur Productions added:

“We’re excited that we’ve been able to produce a compelling and complex conclusion to ‘The Hardy Boys’ this season.  It’s been an honor to work on this iconic title with an amazing cast and crew, alongside our incredibly supportive partners at Nelvana, Corus and Hulu.”

The first two award-winning seasons are currently available to stream on Hulu and on Disney+ in many countries around the world, including in Canada.
