D23 – Disney Entertainment Showcase Disney+ Predictions

On the evening of Friday, 14th August 2026, Disney takes over the Honda Centre for a two-hour-long Disney Entertainment Showcase event.

Guests attending the showcase can expect surprise celebrity appearances, exclusive first looks at upcoming films and series, exciting new announcements, and unforgettable musical performances.

The star-studded presentation will celebrate the stories audiences love while offering an exclusive preview of what’s coming next across Disney’s movies, television, games, and live stage productions.

In previous years, we’ve seen many new films and shows announced to be heading to Disney+ in the future, especially in the run-up to the release of Disney+ in 2019 and then again in 2022 and 2024.

And it’s important to note that this is a two-hour presentation covering not just Disney+, but also the theatrical movies, video games and even its live stage productions. So this will drastically reduce the amount of time given to each project, and it does mean we are very likely to see far fewer Disney+ Original announcements than in recent D23 events.

However, that doesn’t mean we won’t be getting anything! So here are my predictions for what could be revealed for Disney+ during the Entertainment Showcase panel.

Marvel’s Vision Quest

Marvel has already had a 30+ minute showcase presentation at San Diego Comic-Con last month, where it announced two movies, “Ghost Rider” and “Black Panther 3”, I wouldn’t expect to see too much more revealed on the movie side, but with a brand new series set to drop onto Disney+ on October 14th 2026, it would make total sense for this to be the moment to drop a teaser trailer for this upcoming series, which will be the end of the “WandaVision” trilogy.

The new show sees Paul Bettany return as Vision, the beloved android and Avenger. James Spader will also appear in the series as Ultron, reprising his role from 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron”. The cast also includes Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, James D’Arcy, Orla Brady, Emily Hampshire, and Ruaridh Mollica.

Star Wars: Ahsoka – Season 2

After multiple Star Wars shows arriving on Disney+, it looks like the franchise is heading back to the big screen for future adventures, but we’ve still got the second season of “Ahsoka” set to drop onto Disney+, likely in 2027. Filming wrapped months ago, so they’ll have plenty of footage available to tease fans with a sneak peek at the upcoming show. Between this and the upcoming “Star Wars: Starfighter” movie coming out next year, this will likely be the focus for the Lucasfilm part of the presentation.

Marvel Special Presentations

While Marvel has been scaling back its output of shows and films, as it deals with quality issues from an expansion that just didn’t work, I do expect we could see some more Special Presentations hit Disney+ in the next year or so, especially after the success of the recent “Punisher: One Last Kill” special, which was released earlier this year.

There are so many stories and characters that Disney could use with this format, but I expect they’ll keep these specials generally more grounded, since special effects cost money and these specials need to be “budget-friendly”. My pure guesses of upcoming Special Presentations could be a further expansion of the “Defenders” characters such as Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, or another Punisher adventure. I also wouldn’t be surprised if “Wonder Man” got a chance in the future for a random special, but my last guess would be a show featuring some of the younger superheroes, like Ms Marvel, Kate Bishop or America Chavez, to help keep those characters going until they get a “Champions” film.

Oswald The Lucky Rabbit

Jon Favreau has also been working on a brand new show for Disney+ based on the iconic 1920s character, Oswald The Lucky Rabbit. This new show will mix live-action and animation together, similar to what we saw with “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” and will be coming to the streaming platform in 2027. This year’s D23 event will be the perfect place to give Disney fans a little teaser of what this show is.

Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again – Season 3

Much like with “Ahsoka” and “Vision Quest”, filming on the third season of “Daredevil: Born Again” has wrapped, so they’ll have plenty of footage to show off, ahead of its release in March 2027. Fans will no doubt want much more Marvel content to hit Disney+ in the future, but with the change in strategy, we aren’t going to get multiple Marvel shows on Disney+ each year. Though I think Daredevil will continue to be the focus of the “Disney+” side of Marvel for years to come.
