With the end of 2023 just weeks away, the nominees for the 2024 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards have been announced, and two Disney+ Original series have been nominated.   Plus, the biggest hit on Disney+ around the world, “Bluey” was nominated in the Best Children’s Program category.

“The Clearing” picked up five AACTA Award nominations for Best Miniseries, Best Costume Design in Television, Best Sound in Television, with Teresa Palmer nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Drama and Guy Pearce up for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama.

The series tells the story of what happens when a local girl goes missing, it triggers a woman’s memories from her childhood as a member of The Kindred – one of the few female led cults in history. Based on the crime thriller by J.P. Pomare, this exclusive original series follows the nightmares of a cult survivor who’s forced to face the demons from her past in order to stop the kidnapping and coercion of innocent children in the future. “The Clearing” is an emotional and psychological thriller that burrows under the skin and inside the mind, blurring the lines between past and present, reality and nightmare.

While “Matildas: The World At Our Feet” was also nominated in theBest Documentary or Factual Program category.   This series took a look behind the scenes at the Australian soccer team, the Matildas, as they prepared for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
