“Strange World” Coming Soon To Disney+
In what has possibly been one of the worst-kept secrets and something fans have been speculating on for months, but today, Disney has officially announced that the latest Walt Disney Animation Studios’ action-packed adventure “Strange World” is coming to Disney+ in many countries around the world on Friday 23rd December 2022.
The film features Jake Gyllenhaal, who lends his voice to Searcher Clade, a family man who finds himself out of his element on an unpredictable mission; Dennis Quaid, who voices Searcher’s larger-than-life explorer father, Jaeger; Jaboukie Young-White, who is the voice of Searcher’s 16-year-old, adventure-seeking son, Ethan; Gabrielle Union, who provides the voice of Meridian Clade, an accomplished pilot and Searcher’s partner in all things; and Lucy Liu, who voices Callisto Mal, Avalonia’s fearless leader who spearheads the exploration into the strange world.
“Strange World” introduces a legendary family of explorers, the Clades, as they attempt to navigate an uncharted, treacherous land alongside a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob, a three-legged dog and a slew of ravenous creatures.
“Strange World” is helmed by Don Hall (Oscar-winning “Big Hero 6,” “Raya and the Last Dragon”) and co-director/writer Qui Nguyen (co-writer “Raya and the Last Dragon”), and produced by Roy Conli (Oscar-winning “Big Hero 6,” “Tangled”).
“Strange World” was only released in cinemas just before Thanksgiving, but has been given a short theatrical run. Unfortunately, the film suffered to find an audience at the box office, pulling in just under $55 million dollars globally in the past few weeks. But “Strange World” follows the path that “Encanto” took last year with a very short theatrical run. However, the film exploded to the top of the streaming trending charts for months and created a pop-culture moment with the hit song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”. Will “Strange World” be able to replicate the same success as “Encanto”?
