Seth MacFarlane Doesn’t “See A Good Reason To Stop” Making ‘Family Guy’
Later this year, “Family Guy” is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary, having run for twenty-second seasons and over four hundred episodes.
The show features the adventures of the Griffin family. Endearingly ignorant Peter and his stay-at-home wife Lois reside in Quahog, R.I., and have three kids. Meg, the eldest child, is a social outcast, and teenage Chris is awkward and clueless when it comes to the opposite sex. The youngest, Stewie, is a genius baby bent on killing his mother and destroying the world. The talking dog, Brian, keeps Stewie in check while sipping martinis and sorting through his own life issues.
And it doesn’t look like the show is going to be coming to an end, as during a recent interview with L.A. Times to promote the show’s 25th anniversary, the show’s creator, Seth MacFarlane, revealed:
At this point, I don’t see a good reason to stop. People still love it. It makes people happy and it funds some good causes. It’s a lot of extraneous cash that you can donate to Rainforest Trust and you can still go out to dinner that night. There was a time when I thought, it’s time to wrap it up. At this point, we’ve reached escape velocity. I don’t know that there’s any reason to stop at this point unless people get sick of it. Unless the numbers show that people just are, “Eh, we don’t care about ‘Family Guy’ anymore.” But that hasn’t happened yet.
This animated show from 20th Television Animation continues to be a popular draw, regularly being one of the most-watched shows on Disney+ worldwide.
