Robin Weigert & Lior Ashkenazi Join “We Were The Lucky Ones” Series
20th Television is developing a new drama series called “We Were The Lucky Ones”, which will star Joey King and Logan Lerman. This new series is based on Georgia Hunter’s bestseller about a Jewish family separated at the start of WWII yet determined to survive and reunite.
According to Deadline, Robin Weigert and Lior Ashkenazi have been cast in series regular roles on the new limited series.
Robin will star as Nechuma, the Kurc matriarch who is the beating heart and centre of the family. She is a proud and capable business owner. Robin has previously starred in “Big Little Lies”, “Sons Of Anarchy”, and “Deadwood”.
While Lior will star as Sol, the sage and beloved patriarch of the Kurc family. Sol has great warmth and determination and strives to remain level-headed despite the growing hardships his family faces. Lior has previously starred in HBO’s “Our Boys” and Netflix’s “Hit & Run”.
This new limited series is going to be executive produced and written by Erica Lipez, who also serves as showrunner. Erica has previously worked on Apple TV’s “The Morning Show”. It will be directed by Thomas Kail, who has previously worked on FX’s “Fosse/Verdon”, he will also be an executive producer, along with Jennifer Todd, Adam Milch and Georgia Hunter.
“We Were The Lucky Ones” is due to be released on Hulu in the United States and is likely to be released globally as a Star Original on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ internationally.
