New Comic Book Sets Up Season Two Of Disney+ Original “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man”

Just ahead of the release of the second season of the Marvel animated series, ” Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man” on Disney+ in early next year, Marvel has revealed details on a brand-new special comic book series that will be hitting shelves in December and fills in the gap between season one and two. 

Marvel Animation’s “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” follows Peter Parker on his journey to becoming a hero, putting a fresh spin on the iconic character’s foundational stories with a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots. Stay tuned for more news about the new season!

The new four-episode series sets the stage for the show’s highly anticipated second season, including the official debut of iconic Spidey supervillains!

In the new comic series, Peter Parker is ready to save the world thwip by thwip! But things aren’t perfect. He’s been drifting away from his friends. And Norman Osborn may be out of the spider business, but Harry doesn’t think things are over just yet. Something’s happening at Oscorp, and Spidey and his friends need to figure out what it is!

Superstar writer Christos Gage said in a statement regarding the new comic series:

“I’m beyond excited to return to the world of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!.  Just like last time, showrunner Jeff Trammell has been incredibly generous about coordinating in a way that makes our story a firm part of the show’s continuity. Best of all, Eric Gapstur returns on art, and while he was great before, he’s leveled up…wait until you see his work on Spidey, Daredevil, and classic Spider-Man villains finally making their debut here…whoops, spoiler! It’s a real pleasure to be a part of this take on Spidey that combines the feel of the Silver Age with new and exciting characters and situations. I hope I get to do it again next year!”

Disney has also revealed a first-look image of Leonardo Romero’s main cover, along with a variant cover by Luciano Vecchio.

This comic book series sounds like a great idea, filling in some of the gaps between the seasons, though I’m doubtful that there will be too much that won’t be covered in the second season, but for fans of Spidey, this should be a great mini-series to add to your collection.  

The first season of “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” is available to stream now on Disney+.
