Following on from the success of the “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor” and “Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order” video games, according to a new report from Inside Gaming, Respawn Entertainment is in the very early stages of development on a brand new first-person video game based on the “Star Wars: The Mandalorian” Disney+ series.

This new game will apparently see the player take control of a Mandalorian Bounty Hunter. It could be Din Djarin or another Mandalorian character like Boba Fett or someone new.  The new game is going to be set when the Galactic Empire is still dominating the galaxy, and the player’s role is a bounty hunter who has to recapture bounties, dead or alive, for Imperial credits.

The game will not be an open-world adventure. Instead, linear levels will occur on many different planets within the Star Wars universe.  This opens up locations to different types of terrains by travelling to well-known locations like Hoth, Endor, Tatooine and Coruscant.

As you might expect from a game featuring a Mandalorian, the character would have access to a variety of weapons and gadgets, including wrist rockets, grappling hooks and a jet pack.  The ability of a jet pack will allow for high mobility throughout the game, allowing a player to do horizontal dashing, vertical jumping and more.

According to sources, the game is described as being “Very fast-paced” and will reward players with regeneration of health based on successful kills.

Things could change with the game, which is still in early development, and the project might still be years away if it is even released.  It’s also unclear if this will be focused on a single player campaign or also have a multiplayer element to it.   Respawn have had lots of success with multiplayer games with “Titanfall” and “Apex Legends”.

We’ve already seen The Mandalorian appear in some video games, including “Fortnite”, “Rocket League” and “LEGO Star Wars” but with the upcoming “Mandalorian & Grogu” movie set to come out in a couple of years, this does seem like perfect timing.
