“Paradise” Pulls In 7 Million Viewers Globally On Hulu & Disney+
Last week, Disney released the first three episodes of a brand-new drama series called “Paradise.” The series is set in a serene community inhabited by some of the world’s most prominent individuals. But this tranquillity explodes when a shocking murder occurs, and a high-stakes investigation unfolds.
Disney had initially planned to launch the first three episodes on Tuesday, 28th January 2025, on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States, but they did a sneaky surprise early release on Monday with the first episode, followed by episodes two and three on the initial launch date. Disney also aired the first episode on ABC and FX to try to boost interest in the show.
It’s been announced that the first episode pulled in 7 million views globally based on the first nine days of streaming on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the US and Disney+ internationally.
By comparison, the first episode of FX’s hit series, “Shogun”, pulled in 9 million views globally based on six days of streaming. While the first episode of “Agatha All Along” pulled in 9.3 million views on Disney+ globally in its first seven days of streaming.
One of the biggest problems with Disney releasing its official streaming viewership information is that it doesn’t offer a data range to make it properly comparable. Changing the number of days the viewership covers makes it much harder to compare.
“Paradise” stars Sterling K. Brown, James Marsden, Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Aliyah Mastin and Percy Daggs IV.
Executive produced by Dan Fogelman, Sterling K. Brown, John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, John Hoberg, Jess Rosenthal, and Steve Beers. The series is a 20th Television production.
New episodes of “Paradise” are being released each Wednesday, and the first four episodes are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the US and Disney+ internationally.
Roger’s Take: I’m one of the 7 million people who watched it on Disney+, and I’ve really enjoyed the show so far. There are plenty of twists and turns in the show (which is not what I was expecting). I’m glad plenty of people have checked out “Paradise” and highlights how a new show can launch globally.
