The love lives of Charles, Oliver and Mabel are heating up as each is learning more about potential suitors and their connections to Ben in the latest episode of the Hulu and Disney+ Original Series, “Only Murders in the Building.” Charles is trying to question Joy about her lipstick being found in Ben’s dressing room leading to a major rift in their relationship that appears unrepairable. Tobert tricks Mabel into a date where Jonathan, Ben’s understudy, performs as a cabaret singer, but there may be more to him than meets the eye. And Oliver finally pursues Loretta and has a wonderful date before discovering there was more to her relationship with Ben than she has been letting on.

This episode reveals Loretta got into an argument with Ben before his initial collapse on Broadway. It also reveals that Charles punched Ben that night which explains the situation where Ben approached Charles menacingly before the play was supposed to begin. It also opens up two new potential suspects while seemingly eliminating one. Joy’s name may be cleared, but she now wants nothing to do with Charles. Tobert and Mabel want to know more about the man Jonathan was meeting at his cabaret set. And the viewer definitely wants to know more about Loretta’s interactions with Ben that led to their fight on opening night.

Given how this series has been going, I doubt either Jonathan or Loretta will be revealed to be the killer. If I had to pick one, though, I would say Jonathan is more likely to be the killer. Given the first two killers have been women, I think it’s unlikely they will make the third killer a woman. But I doubt Jonathan will be revealed as the killer as the Broadway understudy killing the star is an uninspired development. The show can make it work with other plot twists, but my thought is it will still be someone we’ve been seeing this entire time even if they haven’t appeared to be a suspect yet.

As the season appears to be halfway done, I really don’t know who the killer will end up being. Many of them standout so much, I’m certain they will get episodes clearing their names like Kimber and Joy both have already. Others haven’t stood out that much yet, but the podcast producer in season two blended perfectly into the background until they needed her to come forward. I’m betting they will be able to do that again. If I had to pick one character who is forward enough right now, but hasn’t really come across too much as the killer, I would think it would be Tobert since he’s trying to help Mabel with the case. However, they already had the killer pretend to help the trio in the first season with Jan, so my gut says to rule that one out. Either way, I have high hopes for this season’s reveal.
