Nigel Ng’s “The HAIYAA Tour” Coming Soon To Hulu & Hulu On Disney+
Disney is slowly building out its “Hularious” comedy brand with a series of comedy specials from comedians such as Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Chris Distefano, Ilana Glazer, Sebastian Maniscalco, Jessica Kirson, Matteo Lane, Atsuko Okatsuka and Roy Wood Jr.
Deadline has revealed that a new comedy special called “The Haiyaa Special” , which will be the first special from Nigel Ng, who is mostly known as his alter-ego, Uncle Roger, who is a middle-aged Asian man reviewing an egg fried rice video. In 24 months, he has amassed over half a billion views on his YouTube channel and a combined following of over 30 million across his social media platforms.
The special was filmed during Nigel’s global tour, “The HAIYAA Tour”, where he performed to over 100,000 fans across 109 shows in the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia and Asia.
In the one-hour show, viewers will see his trademark mix of cultural comedy, observational humour, and personal accounts. He dives into his experiences as a Malaysian immigrant in the UK and further takes on Asian food culture and everyday situations, with a guest appearance from the beloved online character, Uncle Roger, for which he’s best known.
The show was written and performed by Ng, and the special was produced by Orange Heart Productions Inc.
Nigel is developing a sitcom with ABC Signature, a TV project with Gordon Ramsay’s company; Studio Ramsay, a feature film and an animated series based on his character – Uncle Roger.
“The Haiyaa Special” is set to premiere on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ on February 21st 2025. No international release details have been confirmed yet.
