The second episode of the new Disney+ Original series, “Muppets Now” features a few different sketches, which include many celebrities such as Linda Cardellini, Taye Diggs and Danny Trejo.

This episode kicks off with Pepe The King Prawn hosting his own game show and much to Scooter’s dismay; just starts making it up as he goes along and it results in a fun sketch as had a few chuckles throughout the sketch. Though I felt like it went a little too long at some points.

Once again the Swedish Chef returns for a cook-off competition with Danny Trejo, who you might know from big movies such as “From Dust Till Dawn”, “Spy Kids” and “Con Air”.  I enjoyed this segment much more than last weeks, since it was a little shorter in length, but seemed more funny.  Seeing Danny Trejo cooking was entertaining enough on its own and just seeing him interact with the Muppets did seem bizarre, but it’s the Swedish Chef who stole this show, as he didn’t like being upstaged.

My favourite sketch from this episode sees Dr. Bunsen Honeydew replacing Beaker with a new smart assistant, which as you might expect, doesn’t go down to well with Beaker.  The science experiment is a lot of fun and I’m sure some people would love to get some revenge on “Alexa”!    It’s just great to see these two Muppets in action and I hope we get to see more of them in future episodes.  This is a highlight!

The final sketch sees Miss Piggy hosting her own “YouTube” style video called “LifeSty” and is joined by Taye Diggs and Linda Cardellini, to talk about staying healthy.  This felt very similar to the first episode and didn’t quite deliver the same laughs, though anytime Miss Piggy gets put in her place is always fun to see.  Once again Uncle Deadly steals this sketch!

This is the second episode from this series that I’ve seen and I would have personally liked a little more variety, since half of the sketches are similar.    I do think the weekly drop of new episodes suits this show better (I watched both the first two episodes back to back), so the second episode could have benefited from featuring some different Muppets, as that would have been more fun, but that feels a minor complaint.

If you love the Muppets, this is a must-watch!

Episode 102 of “Muppets Now” will be arriving on Disney+ on Friday August 7th.
