Disney held a special screening event for the first two episodes of the new Marvel Studios series, “Echo”, at the District at Choctaw Casinos & Resorts in Durant, OK. The event was held on Friday to celebrate Choctaw Day and was held at the Choctaw Cultural Center, which honours and preserves the Choctaw people’s journey, culture and history, kicked off Native American month with one of the nation’s largest powwows.

The new five-episode series, “Echo”, will premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on January 10th 2024 and spotlights Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) as she is pursued by Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) criminal empire. When the journey brings her home, she must confront her own family and legacy.

The director of the series, Sydney Freeland, took part in a special question and answer session following the screening of the first two episodes and said:

“It’s so exciting to be able to premiere Echo and it is extremely meaningful to myself to have this screening in Chocktaw Nation. One of the things we’re most excited about is being able to portray the Chocktaw culture hopefully in an authentic and exciting way.”

Some of the costumes from the series were also on display for fans to check out. Due to the ongoing actor’s strike, none of the stars from the show were able to attend the event.

“Echo” also stars Chaske Spencer (“Wild Indian,” “The English”), Graham Greene (“1883,” “Goliath”), Tantoo Cardinal (“Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Stumptown”), Devery Jacobs (FX’s “Reservation Dogs,” “American Gods”), Zahn McClarnon (“Dark Winds,” FX’s “Reservation Dogs”), Cody Lightning (“Hey, Viktor!” “Four Sheets to the Wind”) and Vincent D’Onofrio (“Hawkeye,” “Godfather of Harlem”). With the upcoming Marvel Studios “Echo” series, it will mark some big changes in how it deals with streaming shows, as it will be the first Marvel series to be rated Mature and it will be the first to be distributed across both Hulu and Disney+ at the same time.   “Echo” will also buck the trend of Disney releasing shows weekly. Instead, all five episodes will be released at once.
