Following Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Studios, The Simpsons are now slowly being introduced into the Disney family and the first release is a short called “Maggie Simpson in ‘Playdate with Destiny”.

This short originally debuted in front of Pixar’s Onward in cinemas and much like that movie, it has been added to Disney+.  And it’s also become a Disney+ Original!  I loved the opening scene with them teasing how it’s now part of Disney corporation, seeing Homer with Mickey ears is always fun to see!

One thing that stood out to me the most was the quality of the animation, it looks stunning, the colors are so vibrant and tell the story so well, while never uttering one word!

Maggie really gets a chance to shine here and they’ve been able to convey her emotions so well, with just her facial expressions and body language.   I loved the differences in parenting styles between Homer and Marge, with Maggie’s pure determination being shown, regardless of her size.

There are many funny moments throughout the short and I’m really hoping Disney continue this trend of making shorts featuring “The Simpsons”, because its a perfect format to showcase these characters.

“Playdate with Destiny” is a charming and lovely short, that is an easy recommendation for anyone to check out.  I loved it and I’m sure everyone else will too.
