20th Century Studios is developing a remake of the classic 1980s film “Nine To Five”. The film originally starred Dolly Parton and Jane Fonda.  It tells the story of three women who are very frustrated with their boss and decide to take matters into their own hands. They kidnap him and run his business on their own.

According to Variety, Jennifer Aniston and her Echo Films partner Kristin Hahn will produce the new film. Diablo Cody, who has previously worked on “Juno” and “Lisa Frankenstein,” will write the script.

No details on the film’s plot have been revealed, nor have any details about who might star in it or whether it will be released in cinemas or on Disney+.   Nor do we know if Jennifer Aniston will star in the film or if Dolly Parton will be providing some of the music for the reimagining, (but I suspect they’ll find a way to incorporate that song in there somewhere!).

The original film was so successful that it spawned a sitcom of the same name that aired on ABC. You can also find the original film on Tubi in the United States and on Disney+ in many countries, including the UK, Australia, and Canada.

The only problem with 20th Century Studios bringing back “Nine To Five” for a new generation is that it’s probably going to need a different name since so few people work the traditional nine-to-five anymore!
