Japanese Anime Franchise “Macross” Coming Soon To Disney+
Disney is continuing to grow its international content library with more Japanese anime. It’s been announced that the popular Japanese anime franchise Macross will be coming to Disney+ under the “Star” brand around the world later this year. As with most international Star content, I’d expect it to be released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States.
The “Macross” franchise was created by Studio Nue and Artland in 1982. It is about an alien spaceship that crashes lands on Earth, and its secrets lead to a desperate war against an alien enemy sent to retrieve the ship.
Eighteen titles will be released later this year on Disney+ around the world, all released together at once. Disney+ will be the only streaming platform with every “Macross” title in one place.

It was also revealed that the Disney+ booth at the AnimeJapan 2024 event will feature “Macross, with a special presentation on the stage on Sunday, 23rd March 2024, which will include some special guests, including Yoshiki Fukuyama, Ai Nakajima, Minori Suzuki.
