20th Television has been developing a pilot starring comedian Ronny Chieng as the general manager of the Brooklyn Nets. However, Deadline has revealed that Hulu has decided not to move forward with the project.  The good news is that 20th Television is still trying to find a new home for the pilot.

The pilot is being developed by producing partners Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar.

Ronny Chieng has jumped from this project over to another show from 20th Television for Hulu, called “Interior Chinatown”, which follows the story of Willis Wu (Jimmy O. Yang), a background character trapped in a police procedural trying to find his way into the larger story–and along the way discovers secrets about the strange world he inhabits and his family’s buried history. Chieng will play Fatty Choi, Willis’s best friend whose passions include video games and malted beverages.

Ronny Chieng has previously starred in “Young Rock” and “Crazy Rich Asians”. He will also be starring in the upcoming second season of the Disney+ Original series, “Doogie Kamealoha, M.D”, which is coming to the streaming service at the end of March.

Had the pilot been given the go-ahead to turn it into a series, we would have seen it released on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ internationally.
