Disney’s FX is developing a new drama series called “Drug Spies”, which has been inspired by true events and tells the stories of spies who work on behalf of multinational drug companies. While no plot details have been provided, the main story will involve two former CIA special forces soldiers who are dispatched by Big Pharma to take down the most prominent generic drug producer in the world.

The new series is being created by Noah Pink, who has recently worked on National Geographic’s “Genius” and Apple TV’s “Tetris”, author Kirk Wallace Johnson and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” director Kari Skogland. Noah Pink is writing the pilot and will be the showrunner. Kirk Wallace Johnson is the author behind “The Feather Thief: Beauty, Obsession and the Natural History Heist of the Century”, and “The Fisherman and the Dragon: Fear, Greed, and a Fight for Justice on the Gulf Coast”.

According to Deadline, FX was able to outbid other rivals to win the project, which is in the very early stages of development.

It’s being produced by Sister, which is the company behind the HBO series, “Chernobyl” and is run by Liz Murdoch, Stacey Snider and Jane Featherstone. Sister’s Kate Fenske will also be an executive producer on the show.

With the series still in early development, it’s a long way off from arriving on our screens.
