First Look At Marvel’s “Spider-Noir” Series
This week, many of the major studios are heading to New York for Upfront events to promote their latest shows and films to potential advertisers for the commercial slots for the year ahead.
Amazon took to the stage on Monday to reveal details on a brand new live-action series that is inspired by the Marvel character, Spider-Man Noir, which is an alternative multiverse variant of Spider-Man.
“Spider-Noir” tells the story of an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.
The new “Spider-Noir” series will be coming to MGM+ and Prime Video in 2026 and will star the Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage in the title role. The show will also star Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, and Jack Huston. Guest star cast includes Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster.

“Spider-Noir” will be available in both black and white and colour. It has been produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video.
Emmy Award-winning director Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve) is set to direct and executive produce the first two episodes. Oren Uziel (The Lost City, 22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel’s The Punisher, Shantaram) will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Uziel and Lightfoot developed the series with the Academy Award-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal. Lord and Miller executive produce for their shingle Lord Miller along with Aditya Sood and Dan Shear. Amy Pascal will also serve as an executive producer via Pascal Pictures. The highly anticipated series will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel, then globally on Prime Video the next day in more than 240 countries and territories thereafter.
Roger’s Take: Sony has tried to make so many different projects using different versions of Spider-Man and other characters from the iconic Marvel comic book. Many of these projects have failed, but they’ve had some successes with “Venom” and “Into The Spider-Verse”, so “Spider-Noir” could be a success. However, is the mainstream audience going to be interested in a multiverse adventure with a completely different version of Spider-Man? I do think having Nic Cage starring in it will bring in viewers, but it’s got an uphill battle to encourage viewers, especially at a time when superhero fatigue is at a fever pitch and faith in Sony-made Marvel projects is at an all-time low?
