Disney has announced that a brand new National Geographic special, “Explorer: Lake Of Fire,” is going to premiere in the United States on the National Geographic channel on October 26th 2023, at 10/9c and will be available the following day on October 27th 2023 on Disney+ and Hulu.

In 2001, satellite imagery captured a mysterious “thermal anomaly” on an unexplored volcano at the ends of the Earth. What lies inside could provide new clues to help predict volcanic eruptions around the globe. But the island is so remote with conditions that are so extreme. No one has ever been able to reach the top to investigate what lies inside.. until now.

Here are some preview images from “Explorer: Lake Of Fire”:

This is the latest “Explorer” special to come from National Geographic, which is a long-running series of specials that explorer the world.  Recent specials include “The Deepest Cave”, “The Last Tepui” and “Lost In The Artic”, which are all available to stream now on Disney+.    No international release details have been announced for “Explorer: Lake Of Fire”, but expect the special to be available later, similar to the last three “Explorer” specials.
