Ewan McGregor Gives Update On Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ Series
On a recent appearance on the BBC’s “Graham Norton Show” to promote the new Apple TV+ series, “Long Way Up”, Ewan McGregor was asked about the upcoming Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series, which he said:
“It’s the Obi-Wan Kenobi story, I suppose. It’s not all me, but it certainly will be a lot of me, which is good!
The new Obi-Wan Kenobi series was due to begin filming earlier this year, but due to issues with the script, it was delayed. During the interview Ewan confirmed:
“We start shooting it in March of next year.”
It’s been over 15 years since Ewan McGregor last played Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith. With the new Disney+ series set 11 years before the events of “A New Hope”, Ewan explained the advantage of him being older.
“The fun thing about doing it when I was much younger was trying to imagine Alec Guinness, how he would play these scenes as a younger guy. This time I’m much closer in age to him, so it will be my challenge to meet him somewhere. I love Alec Guinness, I never met him but it’s a great honour to try and pretend to be him, a bit younger.”
