ESPN’s “I’m Just Here For The Riot” Trailer Released
Disney’s ESPN has released a trailer for the upcoming 30 For 30 documentary, “I’m Just Here for the Riot”, which tells the story of what happened on June 15th, 2011, during the Canucks’ Game 7 Stanley Cup Finals loss to the Boston Bruins sparks a massive riot in downtown Vancouver. Police cars are overturned and burned, windows are shattered, stores are looted, and waves of young people are caught up in the mayhem.
“I’m Just Here For The Riot” chronicles the aftermath of an event captured on hundreds of cell phone cameras; the rioters are outed, shamed, and see their lives altered forever. From the mob mentality in the streets to similar vengeance in the online hunting of those responsible, it is a dark moment in the city’s history – one that raises deeper questions about fandom, violence, and the shocking power of an angry crowd.

Later this year, ESPN+ On Disney+ will also be launching in the United States, offering all ESPN+ content through Disney+. Many previous 30 For 30 documentaries are available on Disney+.
Roger’s Take: Earlier this week, I was in Vancouver ahead of the Canucks game with the Oilers, so I got to see thousands of fans in the city wearing their jerseys, so I got to see the passion for the game. While I was touring the city, the tour guide was telling us about what happened last time Vancouver failed to advance in the Stanley Cup, which resulted in the riot covered in this documentary, which has personally made me much more interested in watching this documentary.
