“Eclipse Across America” Pulled In 4.8 Million Viewers
Earlier this week, Disney’s ABC News and National Geographic presented special live coverage of “Eclipse Across America”, which aired across ABC, ABC News Live, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo WILD, in addition to also being livestreamed on both Disney+ and Hulu, in addition to all the network’s social media platforms.
The show followed the eclipse as it passed over parts of Mexico, the U.S., and Canada, completely blocking the sun. ABC’s David Muir and Linsey Davis presented this special, which featured coverage from over half a dozen states, ABC News correspondents, Nat Geo talent, and Explorers.
Disney has announced that, across the different platforms, the live presentation pulled in 4.8 million viewers. The ABC News special anchored by David Muir and Linsey Davis, featuring National Geographic talent and Explorers, ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (4.448 million), Adults 25-54 (920,000) and Adults 18-49 (744,000) among the broadcast and cable networks.
With NBC, CBS, CNN and Fox News also running live coverage throughout the day, Disney’s coverage was the most watched out of them all.
Additionally, on the National Geographic Channel (2:00-4:00 p.m. EDT.), “Eclipse Across America” averaged 271,000 Total Viewers, 76,000 Adults 25-54 and 69,000 Adults 18-49. On Nat Geo Wild (2:00-4:00 p.m. EDT.), “Eclipse Across America” averaged 63,000 Total Viewers, 19,000 Adults 25-54 and 17,000 Adults 18-49. Unfortunately, no viewership information on how the show performed on Disney+ and Hulu has been revealed.
