During this weekend’s Star Wars Celebration event, it was announced that a brand new animated series will be coming to Disney+ later this year called “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past”.

In the original “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy,” series, the entire Star Wars Galaxy gets completely mixed up when an ordinary nerf-herder, Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo), unearths a powerful artifact from a hidden Jedi temple. He finds himself thrust into adventure in a new, wondrously wild and twisted version of the galaxy where good guys are bad, bad guys are good, and the fate of all depends on Sig becoming the hero who can put all the pieces back together.

In “Pieces of the Past,” a new threat rises in the galaxy, and Sig Greebling and Darth Dev must combine their powers of Force Building and Sith Breaking to stop it. Alongside Jedi Bob, Yesi Scala, and Servo, they will journey into the deepest corners of LEGO Star Wars lore, uncovering pieces of all the galaxies that have come before…

Returning voice cast includes Gaten Matarazzo (Sig Greebling), Tony Revolori (Darth Dev), Bobby Moynihan (Jedi Bob), Marsai Martin (Yesi Scala), Michael Cusack (Servo), Ahmed Best (Death Jar Jar), and a special appearance by Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker). The four-piece sequel series welcomes Ashley Eckstein as LEGO BrickHeadz Ahsoka Tano and Ben Schwartz as Jaxxon.

“LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild Galaxy – Pieces of the Past” is written by Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, directed by Chris Buckley,

The special was announced on the Star Wars Celebration LIVE! Stage in Japan by Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best, where he discussed how his character was reimagined in LEGO form as the fan-favourite Darth Jar Jar in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.

“I always liked this Darth Jar Jar theory.  You know what the funniest thing is? People would come up to me and go, ‘Have you heard this Darth Jar Jar [theory]?’ And I was like, how could I have not heard? [laughs] It’s everywhere. But I always wanted to explore this whole Darth Jar Jar thing. So when Rebuild the Galaxy came about, I was just like, oh, this is absolutely perfect. This is the best way to explore Darth Jar Jar and start talking about him. I got to do a whole bunch of comedy ad-libbing while we were doing it, which is my thing. I loved it.  I am the phantom menace. I have always been the phantom menace. It’s something I’ve been meaning to say for over 20 years.”

The showrunners and writers of the series, Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, also added:

“We’ve been asked, what’s next for Sig, Yesi, and Jedi Bob? Will there be more Darth Jar Jar?.  Star Wars Celebration fans, we’re excited to announce that their story will continue.” Samit then revealed the new season’s title via a hand-built, “brick by brick” LEGO timelapse.

“LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past” will arrive on Disney+ on September 19th 2025.   The first animated series, “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy”, is also available to stream on Disney+.

Roger’s Take: LEGO has a great track record of creating fantastic animated shows for Disney+, and I’m sure this one is going to be just as good, especially as this series is very unique in that it mixes everything up.  Plus as someone with way too many Brickheadz LEGO sets, I’m intrigued to see how they handle Ahsoka in this show.
