The upcoming Rogue One prequel Disney+ series featuring Captain Cassian Andor and K2SO has gone through a major shakeup as Deadline is reporting that Toby Haynes will be stepping in to direct the first three episodes of the new show.

He will be replacing Tony Gilroy, who was originally going to be directing the episodes.  The reason for this change, is down to the Coronavirus causing travel issues.

The new Disney+ series is due to start filming in the United Kingdom next month and with Tony Gilroy living in New York, Toby Haynes is now set to direct some episodes from the show since he lives in the UK as all parties thought it made more sense for the change.  Toby Haynes has previously directed episodes of Black Mirror, Doctor Who, Sherlock and Brexit: The Uncivil War

Tony Gilroy will remain on the project, continuing to work as the Disney+ series executive producer and showrunner.

The new series will see Diego Luna and also star Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller.

It will be set five years before the events of Rogue One and is a spy thriller that will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.
