Disney’s latest live-action remake of its animated classic, “The Little Mermaid”, will be heading to digital platforms, including Amazon, Apple, Vudu and Google, in the United States on Tuesday, 25th July 2023 and on physical media formats including 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on September 19th 2023.  International release dates may vary.

It’s likely that “The Little Mermaid” will follow other recent theatrical releases like “Avatar: The War Of Water” and “Ant-man And The Wasp” Quantumania”, in getting a short window of exclusivity on these digital platforms for people to buy the film, before the movie is released on Disney+ to maximise profits.   It’s just around 60 days from its theatrical release date to a digital purchase release, which is now becoming usual for most major titles from Disney.

“The Little Mermaid” is visionary filmmaker Rob Marshall’s live-action reimagining of Disney’s beloved animated musical classic, the story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
