At this year’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, Disney officially announced a new live-action version of the animated classic, “Lilo & Stitch.

This film tells the wildly funny and touching story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family.

Originally, the film was going to be released directly onto Disney+, but with a shift in strategy, the movie will now be getting a theatrical release, and Disney has announced today that the film will hit cinemas on May 23rd 2025.

With a late May release date, expect this film to continue the trend of taking three to four months before it gets a Disney+ release after a theatrical release.

The new movie has been directed by Dean Fleischer Camp and produced by Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin, “Lilo & Stitch” is a live-action reimagining of the animated classic.

“Lilo & Stitch” stars Maia Kealoha, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere and Chris Sanders, with Courtney B. Vance and Zach Galifianakis.
