Disney+ Original “Pauline” Trailer Released
Disney has released the first trailer for the upcoming German Disney+ Original series, “Pauline”, which tells the story of 18-year-old Pauline, who unintentionally becomes pregnant after a one-night stand. In addition to school stress, the climate catastrophe and the decline of society (better known as social media), there is another problem for them. What she has absolutely no use for is feelings, especially not for her one-night stand Lukas, who, as it turns out, is the devil incarnate. As if growing up in your own body wasn’t enough of a challenge, it now turns out that the pregnancy gives Pauline supernatural abilities and an epic battle between good and evil – in short, the apocalypse – is imminent? Un-fu…-believable!
Check out the “Pauline” trailer below:
“Pauline” stars Sira-Anna Faal, who has previously starred in “Druck” and “Berlin Nobody”, will play the title role of Pauline, with Ludger Bökelmann, who has previously starred in “Die Discounter” play the role of the devil Lukas. Also starring in “Pauline” are Lukas von Horbatschewsky, Johanna Hens, Andrea Sawatzki, Dimitrij Schaad, Nikeata Thompson and Amira Ghazalla.
The show has been created by a German production company called bildundtonfabrik, who are behind the Netflix series, “How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast)” and “King Of Stonks”.
“Pauline” was written by Sebastian Colley, Alma Buddecke, Elena Lyubarskaya, and Sophie Yukiko Hasters. It has been directed by Arabella Bartsch, Alma Buddecke and Facundo Scalerandi
Disney has also announced that the series will be released on Disney+ in Germany on May 22nd 2024.
As with other international Disney+ Originals, I’d expect to see this show released on Disney+ around the world and as a Hulu Original on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States. However, this series has caused some controversy online as the German original picked up the attention of many Christian groups in the United States, who opposed the creation and release of the series due to their religious beliefs and the portrayal of a teenager becoming impregnated by the devil. So, to reduce the risk of bad publicity, I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney didn’t release the show in the United States.
