Disney and Warner Brothers Discovery have announced that this summer, they will launch a brand new streaming bundle that will include Disney+, Hulu, and Max.

This new bundle will only be available in the United States and will offer a wide selection of content from brands such as ABC, CNN, DC, Discovery, Disney, Food Network, FX, HBO, HGTV, Hulu, Marvel, Pixar, Searchlight, Warner Bros., and many more.

The new bundle will be available for purchase on any of the three streaming platform’s websites and offered as both an ad-supported and ad-free plan.

Currently, the Disney+ and Hulu bundle costs $9.99 with ads and $19.99 without ads, while Max is priced at $9.99 with ads and $15.99 without ads. So, it’ll be interesting to see what the price of this bundle will be since it has to be cheaper than buying the two bundles separately.

Later this year, Disney will be teaming with Warner Brothers Discovery and Fox to launch a brand new streaming sports service which will provide access to all of the companies linear channels. Alongside the launch of this new sports streaming service, it will be available in a bundle with Max and Disney+.

Joe Earley, President, Direct to Consumer, Disney Entertainment, said in a statement:

“On the heels of the very successful launch of Hulu on Disney+, this new bundle with Max will offer subscribers even more choice and value. This incredible new partnership puts subscribers first, giving them access to blockbuster films, originals, and three massive libraries featuring the very best brands and entertainment in streaming today.”

And JB Perrette, CEO and President, Global Streaming and Games, Warner Bros. Discovery, added:

“This new offering delivers for consumers the greatest collection of entertainment for the best value in streaming, and will help drive incremental subscribers and much stronger retention. Offering this unprecedented entertainment value for fans across all the complimentary genres these three services offer, presents a powerful new roadmap for the future of the industry.”

Disney will be releasing some additional details regarding the bundle offer at a later date.

Disney already offers Max as an add-on within Hulu, where Max content can be viewed within Hulu. Max content is also available as an add-on within Amazon Prime Video. But it’s unclear if Max content will be offered as an add-on within Disney+ or if the apps will fully remain seperate with this new bundle.

Roger’s POV: With the impending launch of the joint sports service, it does seem like this bundle makes sense, plus if it helps reduce churn and saves customers who have both services.  But without a doubt, many are likely to question all of these different bundling options as they go against the original concept of a streaming service moving away from the cable bundle.  However, from Disney and Warner Brothers Discovery’s point of view, if it keeps more people locked into both platforms, it’s a win-win situation.  I do hope that Max content will be available within Disney+, like ESPN and Hulu content is, since that will likely help keep people engaged even further in the Disney+ ecosystem.
