Disney+ Adds 200,000 Subscribers In Latest Quarter
Today, the Walt Disney Company has released its latest quarterly results for the fiscal third quarter of 2024, and that means we get an updated look at how many subscribers Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ have.
This gives us a clear indication of how the apps are doing, especially with growth or decline in subscriber numbers. These subscriber numbers are based on how many there were on June 29th, 2024.
Disney+ now has over 153.8 million subscribers globally, which is up over 200,000 from 153.6 million subscribers last quarter. In the US and Canada, Disney+ now has 54.8 million subscribers, up 800,000 on the previous quarter.
While internationally, Disney+ Core now has lost around 100,000 subscribers, while Disney+ Hotstar lost half a million subscribers in the last quarter,
Hulu subscribers increased by 900,000 from the prior quarter, and Hulu + Live TV gained 100,000 subscribers in this quarter.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement:
“Our performance in Q3 demonstrates the progress we’ve made against our four strategic priorities across our creative studios, streaming, sports, and Experiences businesses. This was a strong quarter for Disney, driven by excellent results in our Entertainment segment both at the box office and in DTC, as we achieved profitability across our combined streaming businesses(1) for the first time and a quarter ahead of our previous guidance. Despite softer third quarter performance in our Experiences segment, adjusted EPS(1) for the company was up 35%, and with our complementary and balanced portfolio of businesses, we are confident in our ability to continue driving earnings growth through our collection of unique and powerful assets.”
