Disney+ Teaming With Vidio For New Streaming Bundle
As Disney looks to utilise international partners to grow its streaming service, Disney+, today, it’s been announced that a new partnership has been agreed with the Indonesian streaming service, Vidio, to offer a new bundle called ‘Vidio Ultimate Disney+ All Screen Bundle’, which comprises of the Vidio Ultimate All Screen tier and the standard tier of Disney+.
This new bundle brings together the biggest streaming service in Indonesia, with Disney+, offering lots of opportunities to grow subscribers within that region.
Much like Disney’s deal with ITVX in the UK, all Vidio subscribers in Indonesia will now get access to a curated ‘Taste of Disney+’ collection, which includes selected episodes of originals such as “Flex X Cop“, “High Potential”, “Sofia the First” and “Grey’s Anatomy”.
Tony Zameczkowski, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Direct-to-Consumer, Asia Pacific, The Walt Disney Company, said in a statement regarding the deal:
“By bringing Disney+’s beloved films and award-winning series together with Vidio’s local entertainment ecosystem, we’re elevating the streaming experience for fans and new audiences. Indonesia is an incredibly exciting market for Disney+, and we’re delighted to collaborate with Vidio. This announcement is part of our focus on accelerating collaborations to expand the reach, engagement and fandom of Disney+ in APAC.”
Vidio CEO Sutanto Hartono added:
“Through our collaboration with Disney+, we’re bringing together two complementary entertainment experiences into one of Indonesia’s most complete premium entertainment offerings. As entertainment consumption continues to evolve, audiences are looking for greater choice and better value from their subscriptions. With the launch of ‘Vidio Ultimate Disney+ All Screen Bundle’, we’re making it easier than ever for Indonesian audiences to enjoy the best of local stories, global entertainment, and world-class sports through a single, more compelling subscription offering.”
Roger’s Take: It’s very clear that Disney is trying to boost its subscriber numbers globally, and the streaming service is no longer “fresh & new”; it’s looking at different ways to do that on a country-by-country basis. Treating each region differently is exactly what Disney needs to do, as audiences vary from country to country.
