“Toy Story 5” Becomes A Huge Hit For Disney+
After a smash-hit summer box office haul of over $1.1 billion, Disney released the latest Pixar animated film, “Toy Story 5”, on Disney+ around the world earlier this month.
The toys are back, and this time it’s Toy meets Tech. Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad, a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie. Will playtime ever be the same?
Disney has revealed that “Toy Story 5” pulled in over 20 million views globally within its first five days of streaming on Disney+, making it the most-watched film during its premiere week this year and ranking in the top ten theatrical film premieres on Disney+ globally to date.
It was also revealed that “Toy Story” is now the most-watched film franchise on Disney+, pulling in over 2 billion hours globally to date. As the new film gave a massive boost in viewership for the previous films, with them often ranking in the top 20 movies on Disney+ each year.
It’ll be interesting to see how “Toy Story 5” charts on the Nielsen streaming charts compared to the other platforms, but I’ve little doubt that this film will be the biggest film release on any streaming platform that week.
