While Lucasfilm has been busy making new Star Wars shows for Disney+, there hasn’t been much movement on new films. With the release of “The Rise Of Skywalker” in 2019, we’ve not had a new film for years, and it’s going to be a while until we see another one.

According to Deadline, Lucasfilm is developing a brand new Star Wars film with Damon Lindelof writing the project. The script is still being worked on, and production is going to be a while off starting.

Damon Lindelof has previously worked on “Lost” and the “Watchmen”, in addition to co-writing “Prometheus”, and “Star Trek Into Darkness”.

“Ms Marvel” director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has been brought onto the project to direct the film, and according to Deadline’s sources, Lucasfilm and Damon Lindelof wanted a director onboard during the writing process, so that person’s own vision could be included in the script.

There are many Star Wars films in development at Lucasfilm, with Marvel’s Kevin Feige producing one. “Thor: Love & Thunder” director Taika Waititi is also currently writing a film. “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins had previously been announced to be directing “Rogue Squadron”, but that film was delayed. And “The Last Jedi” director, Rian Johnson, is also apparently still working on a new film as well.

No plot details have yet been revealed, and Disney hasn’t officially confirmed this project is in development.

What do you think of this partnership for a new Star Wars film?
