This past weekend, Marvel Studios took over San Diego Comic-Con with a major panel in Hall H on Saturday night, which saw Marvel preview three upcoming movies, “Fantastic Four: First Steps”, “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Thunderbolts*”.

It was also revealed that the Russo Brothers are returning to direct the next two “Avengers” movies, which are now called “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars”.  They will also be joined by Robert Downey Jr, who will be returning to the MCU, but will instead be playing the role of Doctor Doom.

But while the focus at SDCC was on the upcoming movie releases, there was no mention of the upcoming Disney+ Marvel shows, and with the D23: Ultimate Fan Event set to hit Anaheim next week, Marvel is holding some of its major reveals for that event.

Disney will be hosting a Studio Showcase at the Honda Center on Friday 9th August 2024, which will be a two hour presentation that will feature news on upcoming movies and shows from Disney’s studios including Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios, Pixar, Disney and Marvel.

There will also be a separate panel over the weekend, which will showcase the upcoming animated Marvel shows, such as “Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man” and “Eyes Of Wakanda”.

With only two hours for the entire studio showcase, this will likely mean we will probably only hear more about a few Marvel projects, and it looks like one of those will be “Daredevil: Born Again”.

Over the weekend, Charlie Cox, along with some of the other stars of the upcoming series, Jon Bernthal, and Deborah Ann Woll, attended GalaxyCon in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The Daredevil actor informed Cosmic Circus that he would be attending the D23 event to begin the promotion for the upcoming Disney+ series, which is set to be released on the streaming platform in March 2025.   He also revealed that he may be attending the New York Comic-Con to continue the promotion of the new series.

While “Daredevil: Born Again” was initially announced to be an 18-episode series, due to the Hollywood strikes and creative issues, the first season will consist of nine episodes, and Charlie Cox also revealed that he is expecting to begin filming later this year on the second season of the show.  Earlier this year, Charlie Cox took to the stage at an Upfront event to promote the show to advertisers.

Roger’s Take:  It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to hear “Daredevil: Born Again” will likely be highlighted at the upcoming D23 event, since it will be the next live-action series to be released after “Agatha All Along”.   Again, with that major studio showcase only being scheduled for two hours and Marvel having to share the stage with announcements from Pixar, Star Wars and Disney, they are likely only going to be able to highlight a few of the upcoming releases.

All of the “Daredevil” and “Defender” era shows that were previously released on Netflix, are available to stream now on Disney+.
