This past weekend, to promote the home video release of the new 20th Century Studios film, “Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes”, Disney installed an immersive experience near the San Diego Comic-Con.

Over the four-day event, over 5255 fans visited the exhibit called “Enter the Forbidden Zone! The Planet of the Apes”, which gave visitors an insight into the history of the popular franchise.

Guests were captivated by the costumes, comics, props, and photography celebrating the 10 films in the Planet of the Apes legacy.

There were also several opportunities for fans to dive deeper into “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” including immersive stations with the film’s movement coordinator, Alain Gauthier, who taught everyone how to move like an ape and a falconer with a live Harris hawk (named Lola) explored how birds of prey were featured in the movie.

On Thursday, Disney put on a “Unveiling the VFX magic: 20th Century Studios’ Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” panel, which was met with raucous applause. The film stars and VFX talent had fun with the 1,000 person audience and excited everyone with behind the scenes content that brought the movie magic to life. Hosted by Entertainment Weekly’s Gerrad Hall and with stunning previs/postvis videos, fans were able to experience the spectacular ways the fantastical apes and battles came to be.

Finally, fans had two opportunities to meet SteelBook artist, Dylan Cole, as he signed exclusive artwork from the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 4K UHD Blu-ray. Dylan was cheered on the convention floor at the Hulu and Disney+ booth (#3529) as Comic-Con goers waited in line for the special poster signing. To reach fans without a badge, he walked over to the Planet of the Apes Fan Experience and signed hundreds more special art posters to celebrate the fans.

20th Century Studios’ “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is out now at Digital retailers (Prime Video, AppleTV and Fandango at Home) and arrives on streaming on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world on August 2nd 2024.  The movie will also be released in physical media format, including 4K UHD Blu-Ray and DVD, on August 27th 2024.
