This past week, Disney added the 20th Century Studios smash-hit film, “Avatar: The Way Of Water”, onto Disney+ around the world.  The film launches the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. All of this against the backdrop of the breathtaking seascapes of Pandora, where audiences are introduced to new Na’vi cultures and a range of exotic sea creatures.

“Avatar: The Way Of Water” is one of the most successful films of all time and Disney, along with the film’s director, James Cameron have been trying to get people to go to the cinema to see the film, with an extended theatrical run but during a recent interview with Apple,  the film’s producer Jon Landau spoke about the benefits of watching the film on Disney+ at home instead of in cinemas and was asked if he expected the film to have a similar impact for those watching it at home or on mobile.

First of all, we know no matter how successful a movie is at the box office, over the years, more people are going to see it outside of the theaters.

People turn to entertainment today to escape the world we’re in, and there’s no better place to escape to than Pandora, because they get something out of the film emotionally. There’s so much in every frame of The Way Of Water that when people watch it on Disney+, they’re going to see something they’ve never seen before—something they didn’t have time to see in a theater.

For people who haven’t seen it yet, their experience is going to be “Wow, that’s the best presentation I’ve seen on my TV, on my iPad, wherever,” as long as they’re not doing five other things! [Laughs]

There are, of course, many benefits of watching “Avatar: The Way Of Water” at home on Disney+, especially with a very long film; it makes bathroom breaks much easier and should you want to put the kettle on for a cup of tea, you can simply pause the film.

“Avatar: The Way Of Water” is out now on Disney+.  Are you checking it out this weekend?
