“American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” Gets A Surprise Disney+ Release In The UK
In a surprise release, today, Disney has released the first two episodes of the FX limited series, “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez”, on Disney+ in the United Kingdom and Ireland, in line with the release in the United States on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ and on Disney+ in many countries including Canada and Australia.
The new series charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez and explores the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide and their legacy in sports and American culture.

This is the first installment of FX’s “American Sports Story” is based on the podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. from The Boston Globe and Wondery.
The series stars Josh Rivera (Aaron Hernandez), Jaylen Barron (Shayanna Jenkins), Lindsay Mendez (Tanya Singleton), Ean Castellanos (DJ Hernandez), Tammy Blanchard (Terri Hernandez), Tony Yazbeck (Urban Meyer), Patrick Schwarzenegger (Tim Tebow), Thomas Sadoski (Brian Murphy), Jake Cannavale (“Chris”) and Norbert Leo Butz (Bill Belichick).
“American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” is executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Stuart Zicherman, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson and Carl Franklin. Hernan Lopez and Marshall Lewy of Wondery also serve as executive producers alongside Linda Pizzuti Henry and Ira Napoliello of The Boston Globe. The series is produced by 20th Television.
Unlike many other countries, Disney doesn’t announce everything that will be released on Disney+ in the United Kingdom and Ireland in advance, nor promote upcoming new releases on social media. Disney has also been starting to release more titles in the UK, which is in line with their US release schedule, but it’s still a bit hit and miss.
This new series will consist of ten episodes, and a new episode will be released each Wednesday.
