Hulu Developing New Documentary About Luigi Mangione

A brand new documentary is currently in production about Luigi Mangione for Hulu, which will be created by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, who previously worked on “The Looming Tower”.

The documentary film will tell the story of the murder of Brian Thompson, who was the CEO of health insurance company UnitedHealthcare, who was killed in broad daylight in midtown Manhattan. Earlier this year, Luigi Mangione was charged with four federal crimes, including murder.

This film explores the complicated story beneath the headlines and investigates “how the spectacle of violence can obscure deeper truths.”

It will be created by Jigsaw Productions and Anonymous Content. Trevor Davidoski and John Jordan will produce. Gibney, Razan Ghalayini and Richard Perello will exec produce for Jigsaw with Jessica Grimshaw and David Levine exec producing for Anonymous Content.

Alex Gibney said in a statement to Deadline about the documentary:

“Following our collaboration on Looming Tower, I am delighted to join forces with Hulu to tell this powerful and important story. In the tradition of previous Jigsaw investigations, I think that people who think they know the story will be surprised and moved by the details hiding behind the headlines.”

No other details on the film have been revealed, such as when it might be released on Hulu and Disney+.
