Pixar Reveals New “Finding Nemo” Short

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Pixar was working on a brand new short featuring characters from the iconic “Finding Nemo” universe and today, during a special presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Disney confirmed the new short will be called “Loving Dory”.

This short set in the world of Finding Nemo, and plot details were revealed for the first time by director Lou Hamou-Lhadj and producer Mary Alice Drumm.

In the new short, Dory confuses a plastic bag for a gentle jellyfish and is moved by its curious nature. She falls head-over-fins in love, but it doesn’t take long for her new romantic entanglement to escalate from a little clingy to outright toxic — and in desperate need of intervention.

Disney also revealed some concept art for the short:

It hasn’t yet been revealed when this short is going to be released, either directly onto Disney+ or in cinemas, but I suspect it’ll be given a theatrical release in front of Pixar’s next movie, “Gatto” on March 5th, 2027. As this will help give the new original movie a boost, Disney has used shorts based on established franchises to boost the box office many times before.

While we wait for the new short, you can find both “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory” available to stream on Disney+.
