Scott Speedman To Star In ABC’s ‘RJ Decker’ Pilot

Disney’s ABC is developing a new pilot called “RJ Decker”, which is being created by Rob Doherty, who is behind “Elementary”.

“RJ Decker” centres on the eponymous RJ Decker, a disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con who starts over as a private investigator in the colourful-if-crime-filled world of Carl Hiaasen’s South Florida. He tackles cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife and a shadowy new benefactor — a woman from his past who could be his greatest ally … or his one-way ticket back to prison.

According to Deadline, Scott Speedman has joined the cast and will be playing the title role of the show, who is described as someone who has charm to spare and the owner of a short fuse and a restless soul.

Scott is currently starring in the hit series, “Grey’s Anatomy” as Nick Marsh, who is Meredith Grey’s boyfriend, and he has been starring in the show as a recurring character since season 18.

Apparently, the plan is for Scott to be able to continue his role in “Grey’s Anatomy”, should the pilot get the go-ahead to a full series.

20th Television is the studio behind the new pilot, which is being written by Rob Doherty and will be directed by Paul McGuigan.

As with any pilot, its not a given that it will be ordered to a full series, but if it does, expect to see it released on ABC and Hulu/Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and as a Star Original on Disney+ around the world.
Currently, “RJ Decker” is the only pilot ordered by ABC for the 2025 season, so it would likely not hit our screens until 2026, if it does get a series order.
