Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) Announce 2022 Award Winners

Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) has its 2022 Award Winners, which saw EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE and TÁR as a tie for Best Picture of the Year.

Disney is also picked up some awards during the event, with “Avatar: The Way Of Water” winning the award for Production Design.  National Geographic’s “Fire Of Love” also picked up the runner-up award for Best Documentary/Non-Fiction Film, while Searchlight Pictures’ “The Banshees of Inisherin” also was announced as the runner-up for Best Screenplay.

LAFCA President Claudia Puig said in a statement:

“We are so happy about the breadth and depth of this year’s awards, and thrilled to be able to honor our illustrious winners in person for the first time in 3 years. We will be celebrating the award winners this year on January 14, 2023 at the Millennium Biltmore Los Angeles, which has a storied cinematic history.”

As previously announced, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association has chosen writer-director Claire Denis as the recipient of this year’s Career Achievement Award.

BEST LEAD PERFORMANCE: Bill Nighy, LIVING

Runner-up: Michelle Yeoh, EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE


BEST SUPPORTING PERFORMANCE: Dolly de Leon, TRIANGLE OF SADNESS

Runner-up: Jessie Buckley, WOMEN TALKING


BEST SUPPORTING PERFORMANCE: Ke Huy Quan, EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE

Runner-up: Brian Tyree Henry, CAUSEWAY


SCREENPLAY: Todd Field, TÁR

Runner-up: Martin McDonagh, THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN


ANIMATION: GUILLERMO DEL TORO’S PINOCCHIO

Runner-up: MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON


BEST FILM NOT IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE: EO

Runner-up: SAINT OMER
