“The First Omen” is a prequel to the classic horror film franchise that is set in 1971, this psychological horror prequel to the classic Omen films, a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church. Soon, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her faith, and that reveals a terrifying conspiracy to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.

‘The First Omen” stars Nell Tiger Free (Servant), Tawfeek Barhom (Mary Magdalene), Sonia Braga (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Ralph Ineson (The Northman) and Bill Nighy (Living). The film is directed by Arkasha Stevenson based on characters created by David Seltzer (The Omen), with a story by Ben Jacoby (Bleed) and a screenplay by Tim Smith & Arkasha Stevenson and Keith Thomas (Firestarter).

“The First Omen” reveals the horrific events leading up to Damien’s inception, and fans can relive the following cult classics on Disney+ now:

  • The Omen (1976),
  • Damien: Omen II,
  • Omen III: The Final Conflict,
  • The Omen (2006)

Roger’s Take: It’s great that this film is getting a global release on Disney+, rather than the spread-out releases that 20th Century Studios titles sometimes get.  I’m not a huge horror fan and have never seen the original film, but with this being a prequel, I’ll be giving it a whirl.  It’s also strange that Disney is rushing this to Disney+ within two months of its theatrical release, as it generally seems to have been pulling back to longer theatrical windows, but for low-cost movies, it makes sense.
