Later this year, Lucasfilm is set to release a brand new original series on Disney+ called “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”, which follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

This new Disney series stars Jude Law, along with Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Dane DiLiegro, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe and Kerry Condon.

Originally, this series was due to be released on Disney+ in 2023; however, with the return of Bob Iger as CEO, Disney has slowed down its major franchisereleases for multiple reasons, including reducing franchise fatigue, delays due to the Hollywood strikes, and ultimately trying to save money.

According to Collider, who spoke with director Jon Watts at CCXP, “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” will be released on Disney+ around Christmas.

This lines up with a previous comment by Dane DiLiegro that the should would be arriving in the Fall, around November time.

With “Star Wars: The Acolyte” set to be released on Disney+ in June and July, which will then be followed by Marvel’s “Agatha” later this year, the timing of “Skeleton Crew” arriving later in the year would make sense, to help spread them out.

Hopefully we get an official announcement soon, either around Star Wars Day or during the upcoming D23 Ultimate Fan Event.

Jon Watts and Christopher Ford are the showrunners and executive producers, along with Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson on “Skeleton Crew”. Chris Buongiomo, Gilchrist and Carrie Beck also serves as co-executive producers. on the project.  John Bartnicki and Susan McNamara are producers. Directors include Watts, David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard and Lee Isaac Chung.
