Following the huge success of the new “Goosebumps” series on Disney+ and Hulu last year, Disney was quick to get a second season of the show into production and it has been officially revealed that filming is now underway on the second season.Disney is making the show an anthology series, so it means that the upcoming new season features a brand-new story, setting and cast, and it is based upon R.L Stine’s worldwide bestselling Scholastic series, which has over 400 million books in print across 32 languages.

This new story begins with Devin and Cece, fraternal twins, adjusting to life with their recently divorced dad, Anthony. When the duo discovers a threat stirring, they quickly realize that dark secrets are among them, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, Devin, Cece and their friends – Alex, CJ and Frankie – find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.

In the second season, David Schwimmer (“American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson”) leads the cast, alongside new season two regulars Ana Ortiz (“Love, Victor”), Sam McCarthy (“Dead to Me”) and Jayden Bartels (“Side Hustle”) as fraternal twins Devin and Cece, respectively; Elijah Cooper (“That Girl Lay Lay”) as CJ; Galilea La Salvia (“Party Down”) as Frankie; and Francesca Noel (“R#J”) as Alex.

This series comes from Disney Branded Television and is produced by Sony Pictures Television.  Nicholas Stoller (“The Muppets”) and Rob Letterman (“Pokémon: Detective Pikachu”) developed the series and will serve as executive producers alongside showrunner Hilary Winston (“Community”), Neal H. Moritz (“Fast & Furious” franchise), Scholastic Entertainment’s Iole Lucchese (“Clifford the Big Red Dog”), Pavun Shetty (“The Boys”), Conor Welch (“Platonic”), Scholastic Entertainment’s Caitlin Friedman (“Stillwater”) and Erin O’Malley (“New Girl”).

The clipboard image also confirms that Rob Letterman is also directing the first episode, with Thomas Yatsko working the camera.

The first season of “Goosebumps” is available to stream now on Disney+.
