Next year, the second season of “Star Wars: Andor” is set to arrive on Disney+ around the world and continues to explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

This past weekend, at a panel during the ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024, Diego Luna, who stars as Captain Cassian Andor in the series, teased that there would be some more characters from “Rogue One” in the upcoming second season of “Andor”.

“I can tell you, ‘Rogue One’ is coming, so there will be characters there that you will recognize.  here will be cool stuff. For those who love ‘Rogue One,’ this season is going to be very special.”

According to The Playlist, Ben Mendelsohn will also be returning to the role of Director Krennic in the upcoming second season of “Andor”.

During an interview with Mexican filmmaker Alonso Ruizpalacios about his upcoming movie, “La Cocina”, he let slip that he had been enjoying working with “Stellan Skarsgård, Forest Whitaker, and Ben Mendelsohn,” while filming the second season of “Andor”.

Earlier this year, Ben Mendelsohn told Bad Taste that he hasn’t yet been approached about returning as Krennic for the upcoming series.

“As for being contacted by Lucasfilm for a new project, I can tell you that no, I have not been approached for something like this. And yes, it would be great to see him [Krennic] again somewhere, but for now everything stops here. But as far as I’m concerned, I would be very willing to explore it further and significantly in that world. I never expected to play a character like that, but then again I never expected to become an actor either. For me they are all wonderful things.”

Ben has previously reprised the role during an episode of the Disney+ Original series, “Star Wars: The Bad Batch”, and with the events of the second season of “Andor” leading straight into the story of “Rogue One”, it wouldn’t be a huge step to see Krennic involved.

Filming on “Andor” wrapped earlier this year following a slight delay in production last summer due to the actors/writers’ strikes.  The amount of overall Star Wars releases is being reduced as part of a cost-cutting measure, improving quality and reducing franchise fatigue, so all of these reasons are behind the show not coming out this year as originally expected at last year’s Star Wars Celebration panel.

Roger’s Take:  While I’m not expecting to see Krennic popping up throughout the series, a small cameo will help set the conflict between the two in the final moments of the movie.

You can watch the first season of “Andor” on Disney+ now.
