Filming has begun today on a brand new untitled film from 20th Century Studios about the Bumble founder, Whitney Wolfe Herd, who will be played by Lily James.

No plot details on the film have been officially announced, but it’s going to be loosely inspired by the true life of Whitney Wolfe Herd, who launched the online dating platform, Bumble, after co-founding and later departing, Tinder.  Whitney became one of the youngest self-made billionaires at age 31, following Bumble going public.

Production has begun in Los Angeles, and Deadline has shared a new image of the set.

The new film will also star Ben Schnetzer (3 Body Problem), Ian Colletti (The Hot Zone), Mary Neely (Happiness for Beginners), Ana Yi Puig (Goosebumps), Aidan Laprete (The Wilds), Pedro Correa (My Dead Dad) and Coral Peña (Thelma).

The untitled Bumble film will be directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg, who previously worked on “Unpregnant” and co-wrote the script with Bill Parker and Kim Caramele. Lily James, Jennifer Gibgot, and Andrew Panay will also be producers. Gala Gordon and Bob Dohrmann will also be executive producers on the new movie, and Sarah Shepard will oversee the project for 20th Century Studios.

It’s also been confirmed that this new film will be released in 2025 directly onto Disney’s streaming services, Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.

Roger’s Take: It’s great to have a little more information on this movie and confirmation that it’ll be heading straight to Hulu and Disney+. I had expected this film to get a short theatrical run (though it still could), and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it hit the streaming service in time for Valentine’s Day if they can turn it around quickly.
