Whoopi Goldberg Visits The Vatican To Prep For Upcoming Disney+ Original “Sister Act 3” Film
Way back at the 2020 Investors Day event, it was revealed that Disney was working on a third instalment of “Sister Act”, which will see Whoopi Goldberg return as Deloris, a lounge singer, who in the original film was persuaded to go into witness protection as a nun at a convent after she witnesses a murder. But once there, she has trouble adjusting to her new lifestyle.
Recently, Whoopi Goldberg took to The View’s social media to reveal that she’s been in Rome, Italy, visiting the Vatican and even met the Pope while she was there.
“Remember I said I was here and we’re looking at all these different things? I think I forgot to mention, I met the Pope today. It was pretty remarkable.”
Whoopi also revealed she’s at the Vatican to help organise a possible scene from the third film, which will see her, along with the nuns, standing in St Peter’s Square. Whoopi also revealed she will be giving a further update soon on an upcoming episode of “The View”, which airs on ABC.
“Maybe, since you’re seeing everything, you’re figuring out what I’m doing here. But picture Sister Act and all the nuns standing here, waiting for the Pope to come out. Maybe that’s going to happen in the new movie. You don’t know. You never know, but we are in Rome, and I am in Vatican City. What could I be doing? Why could I be here? We’ll find out.”

Tim Federle will direct the upcoming Disney+ Original film and will also star Wendy Makkena, Kathy Najimy, and Keke Palmer. It will also be produced by Tyler Perry, who revealed last year on ABC that the script was completed:
“I loved the idea of us making this happen, but the Hollywood system moves a little slower than I’d like to. We’ve got a good script. We’re off to a great start.”
Filming on the upcoming third film hasn’t started yet, but hopefully, things will start up once the actor’s strike is over.
The original film was released in 1992 and was followed up by a sequel in 1994, both of which are available to stream now on Disney+.
