When Will “The Marvels” Be On Disney+?
Currently, no official Disney+ release date has yet been announced. In the past few years, Disney has sped up how quickly it takes for films to be released in cinemas before arriving on Disney+, the studio doesn’t have a specific timeline for how quickly a is added onto Disney+ after a theatrical release. Instead, it treats each film on a case-by-case basis, depending on how well it does at the box office. The more successful the film is at the box office, the longer the release to Disney+ will take. Marvel films especially have a slightly longer time between a theatrical release and a Disney+ release.
If we take a look at the most recent Marvel movie releases to compare:
- “Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol 3” took 90 days to arrive on Disney+ after its theatrical release.
- “Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania” was released on Disney+ 89 days after its theatrical release.
- “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” was released on Disney+ 82 days after its theatrical release.
- “Thor: Love & Thunder” took 64 days from its theatrical release to arrive on Disney+ on Disney+ Day 2022.
- “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness” took 47 days from its theatrical release to Disney+.
- “Eternals” took 68 days from its theatrical release to Disney+
- “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings” took 70 days to be released on Disney+ on Disney+ Day 2021.
- “Black Widow” was released to all Disney+ subscribers 90 days after its Premier Access release.
If “The Marvels” follows a similar pattern to the recent Marvel films, the film could arrive on Disney+ at the beginning of February 2024, as 90 days after the initial release date is Thursday 8th, February 8th 2023. But Disney could easily shift the release date around a day either side to fit with a traditional Wednesday or Friday release date.
With Disney trying to boost how much money films are making in cinemas, it is generally not rushing films to Disney+ as quickly as it used to, as it’s trying to break the habit of people holding out for a Disney+ release. If Disney were to rush “The Marvels” to Disney+, it then creates an expectation that this will continue to happen, meaning for the next Marvel film’s release, fewer people will go to the cinema and wait.
Once Disney officially announces a release date for “Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3”, this page will be updated.
