This winter, Searchlight Pictures is releasing a brand new movie called, “A Complete Unknown”, which stars Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan and this film will tell the electric true story behind the rise of one of the most iconic singer-songwriters in history.
Set in New York in 1961, against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. He forges intimate relationships with music icons of Greenwich Village on his meteoric rise, culminating in a groundbreaking and controversial performance that reverberates worldwide.

It has been directed, written and produced by James Mangold. Jay Cocks also worked on the screenplay, and it will be produced by
Fred Berger, James Mangold, Alex Heineman, Bob Bookman, Peter Jaysen, Alan Gasmer, Jeff Rosen, and Timothée Chalamet.
When Is “A Complete Unknown” Released?
“A Complete Unknown” is getting a slightly drawn out release schedule, while the official release date for the film in the United States and Canada is Christmas Day, it’s being shown earlier in some select cinemas a week before hand. The film is also getting a slight delay into January 2025 in many other countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
When Will “A Complete Unknown” Be On Disney+ and Hulu?
Currently, no official Disney+ or Hulu release date has yet been announced.
In the United States, since this is a Searchlight Pictures movie with a R rating, it will likely go to Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.
As with all other Searchlight Pictures movies, it will be heading to Disney+ internationally. However, because the theatrical international release date is different in some countries, this will likely result in the film getting different Disney+ release dates around the world.
Generally, with Searchlight Pictures streaming releases, these movies tend to arrive on Hulu and Disney+ slightly earlier than the major blockbuster releases from Disney’s other studios, which wait around 100 days before a streaming release. So it’s possible that “A Complete Unknown” could arrive on streaming platforms after a couple of months, as many previous Searchlight Pictures often only do 60+ days between theatrical and streaming release, usually because the films are much cheaper to produce, and so don’t need to make as much money at the box office to become profitable.
With the Oscars taking place in early March, if this film is nominated for any major awards, which looks likely based on other film award nominations, Disney might try to get the film out around then to benefit from the boost in interest. Disney did a similar promotion for “Poor Things” earlier this year.
